I
started writing poetry when I moved to Devon. The sea was my initial
inspiration and has been a theme to which I return frequently. The
pieces I like the most are bound up with Nature and evoke persistent
images whenever I read them.
Writing has helped me in times of crisis and stress. Putting my thoughts
down on paper has been an emotional release experienced at the death
of family members, at separation, and the joy of finding my new love.
I often carry a poetry notebook and scribble thoughts down, sometimes
just words. At some point they will surface in one of my poems. Some
of my best thoughts have come to me whilst driving down the motorway
to work.
Since moving to Spain I have found fresh inspiration for my writing
- drifts of almond blossom in early Spring, the effects of midsummer
heat and the sights and smells of the 'campo' on daily dog walks -
For now I hope you will enjoy the selected poems in this short anthology.
